Blessing of site

The Blessing of our site, ready for Stage 1 of the project to begin, was held on Monday the 24th September. It was a beautiful early morning start for the blessing and turning of the soil which officially sees the pontoon and boardwalk build proceed.

Blessing and turning of the soil

Project development – progress is under way

The crane for removing the old poles and preparing the site for the pontoons has finally arrived to much jubilation and elation – we are finally getting underway!

The pontoons are being constructed offsite and will be ready for installation in the very near future. This is really exciting for all involved.

What’s been happening

Wharf at Wharf Street

The Wharf is now competed, signed off and ready to be handed over to the Hauraki District Council. From the moment it was open to the public the locals have been swimming off it and even tried their hand at white baiting.

Christmas Light Show

What a hard decision to make. After many nights of lost sleep and careful deliberation and discussion it was decided to cancel this years’ light show. The contributing factor to the decision was the significance of the build. While the Team know this is disappointing news they simply can’t create a light show in a construction zone. Next year will mark the 10th year of the Xmas Light Show so bring on 2021!

Camper Vans and Motor Homes

These are returning to the Park slowly now the Levels across the country are the same. The number of bookings are increasing and the comments are very positive. With the powered junction boxes installed, our capacity has increased and we can now accommodate more self contained camper vans and caravans.

Workshop Shed Upgrades

Colin and Mike Bennett have been busy over the past few months giving the frontage of the workshops a face lift. The upgrades are in keeping with the ‘heritage’ look of the current and proposed future buildings. Very impressive.

Where to from here?

The future plans for the park are:

  • to install a board walk connecting the park to the pontoons,
  • preparing ‘Kiteawa’ for operation,
  • continue to apply for funding to get consents for the Flagship building and for landscaping.
